This was a subject of a little debate a few evenings ago, actually... Solaria Public Access UNIX and sol.net Network Services are the largest FreeBSD shop in the area, at least as far as I know of (although Jim Lowe has a bunch of Xterminals and might be able to beat me on a pure machine count). I am also in touch with a number of other FreeBSDites in the area, including at least one organization that I am working on FreeBSDizing. If there is any interest in a local mailing list, etc., the resources are available to provide it. I already host the local Linux mailing list (ironically on a FreeBSD based system) :-) All of this falls in very nicely with the original goal and philosophy behind Solaria - providing a place for the local UNIX hacks to get together and utilize shared resources. While Solaria itself is one of my legacy Sun boxes, I am maybe a week or two away from reopening Wye (486DX4/100, FreeBSD 2.0.5R) for regular users. As for meetings, etc., there has already been some interest expressed locally... Anyone interested in any of this, lemme know and I could set up a local mailing list. ...
