In the Perl core distribution, a bug ticket has been filed asserting that the commands 'perl -v' and 'perl -V' misdetect architecture on FreeBSD, at least on non-amd64 platforms such as powerpc, riscv and arm. The ticket is here: https://github.com/Perl/perl5/issues/19791 A pull request has been filed to correct this problem here: https://github.com/Perl/perl5/pull/19843 If there is any reader of this list -- particularly someone with access to FreeBSD on non-amd64 platforms -- who would care to comment on either the issue or the pull request, please do so.
