Not sure if those things are related: I can access my mysql from whatever (freebsd) account I use, as long as the username/password combo defined in MySQL is correct (ie I don’t have to login as ‘peter’ on FreeBSD to use the ‘peter’-account on MySQL).
I also don’t see this behavior after upgrading to 12.2: I dump all databases each night, and that didn’t stop working after the upgrade (neither for MySQL and PostgreSQL).
Maybe some configuration quirk in both database apps?
