How close to being ready is the Gnome 1.4 port, Ade? I also > suspect that the majority of users will see more benefit from it that > Samba-2.2, which mostly benefits corporates with Win NT/2k boxes. First off, I'm trying to work with the GNOME people to factor in our release dates with there's, but we still have a long path to travel before that is resolved. Secondly, the FreeBSD/GNOME 1.4 port is now publically available for download (see messages to -ports passim). Given the magnitude of the changes, and the fact that it may very well have big consequences to what goes on CD#1, I won't be committing GNOME 1.4 until after 4.3-RELEASE (current due date for the switch-of-death is 4/30/2001) There are also still issues with the shiny new file manager, thus providing another reason to hold back. I want this one to be a quality release, before dealing with a few issues that will result in 1.4.1 (which will be present on 4.4-RELEASE), before working on the repo-copies from hell that will be GNOME 2.0 Regards, -aDe -- Ade Lovett, Austin, TX. ade@FreeBSD.org FreeBSD: The Power to Serve http://www.FreeBSD.org/ To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe cvs-all" in the body of the message
