Just get an appropriate null-modem cable, plug it into both machines, configure the PCs serial port as a hardware terminal in /etc/ttys, and run your favorite terminal program (or kermit) on your Mac. Set the serial port settings appropriately, hit and run away. A network connection may be more useful -- then you can use network clients (web browsers, fetch, et al) to access your PC. Cost is the only problem here if you have to get new parts, plus drop cables.
