Well, this is not a problem per se. The thing is, mtree is creating everything it expects to find on a ${PREFIX} You don't want that. Add the following to your Makefile NO_MTREE= yes About the script, there is a good example at ${PORTSDIR}/mail/qmail/pkg/INSTALL I just can't remember who contributed the final version.
