as far as i know internal modems dont work with freebsd i had the same question a few months ago when i started, and all advice i got was to get an external one, which i did... the prob is that the vast majority (if not all) internal 56k pci are what they call winmodems. however, if u can get of any old internal like 33.6k isa it's got much more chance to work... if u wanna solve the prob instantly of course, get an external 56k and forget about it...
