When I had set up the operating system, and also did some post installation procedures (such as giving the root password, etc...) there was an option "Configuring XFree86 server" (Configure/XFree86 menu in /stand/sysinstall), and I chose "Fully Graphical XFree86 Configuration tool". I configured the videocard (Tseng's Lab ET4000 W32P), and after finishing the configuration X-server was started. The monitor swithed into graphical mode, and I could move an "X" arrow on the screen by the mouse. Finally the setup "congratulated", that now I'm having an X-server.... So, the videocard is supported, and also works on FreeBSD, but not with startx. The script, that you suggested, I suppose, does the same thing as "Fully Graphical XFree86". > In most cases it's enough to know video card and monitor model > and what is ur monitor - LR/NI or MPRII or whatever.
