FBSD 4.5 this isn't a question, but i think it would be good to archive for search/help purposes. i got a HP LaserJet 1200, and i wouldn't print. it would just blink it's lights when i tried. it is a nice printer (<$400), with a PostScript engine. no ghostscript needed! just dump ASCII or PS to it! anyway, the problem was resolved by setting BIOS Lpt settings to EPP. it refused to print in "compatible" mode.
