I think the point was so that in places where you connect one Ethernet network to an ISP you wouldn't have to use a whole (sub)-net for the PPP link. I *thought* one of the design goals of PPP was to avoid having to assign addresses to the link endpoints. Guess not??? Anyway thanks for the patch; I'll try it in the next day or so... :-)!!
