Turn on cpu hlt sysctl, %sysctl -w machdep.cpu_idle_hlt=1 then copy a large file to my home directory %cp /boot/kernel . Press ctl+alt+del immediately after copy. When in reboot state, kernel crashed when trying to shutdown bufdaemon. backtrace shows the trap is at cpu_idle+0x1e, the fault is page fault referencing zero address. if I set machdep.cpu_idle_hlt to 0, I can not reproduce the bug. %dmesg Copyright (c) 1992-2003 The FreeBSD Project.
