Quick followup. I changed the NIC, still got the freezes and crashes. It turned out it was the ICH9 soundcard, with the lowlatency drivers. They worked fine on my laptop, but it seems they were the culprit on my desktop. I bought a CMI soundcard, which works fine, no freezes/etc for almost a week now :) Thanks everyone for your suggestions. -- Regards, Ghirai.
