I don't have this problem with 5.3 under i386. I wasn't able to submit this report via web because the anti-spam code wasn't being recognized. The problem occurs during boot up / driver detect. I get the following messages in bootup which I've manually copied: sym0: <810a> port 0x9000-0x90ff mem 0xea094000-0xea0940ff irq 12 at device 7.0 on pci1 __sym_calloc2: failed to allocate HCB[4288] device_attach: sym0 attach returned 6 sym1: <1010-33> port 0x9400-0x94ff mem 0xea090000-0xea091fff,0xea097000-0xea0973ff irq 11 at device 9.0 on pci1 __sym_calloc2: failed to allocate HCB[4288] device_attach: sym1 attach returned 6 sym2: <1010-33> port 0x9800-0x98ff mem 0xea092000-0xea093fff,0xea098000-0xea0983ff irq 15 at device 9.1 on pci1 __sym_calloc2: failed to allocate HCB[4288] device_attach: sym2 attach returned 6 I was using the mini-inst boot CD from the iso images. I had to disable ACPI at bootup to not hang later in the boot sequence (after the detection of the single IDE device installed - a cdrom). This particular machine has a motherboard with an nforce3 chipset. As I mentioned, I don't have this problem with the i386 branch, but I do still have to disable ACPI. I tried an older version of AMD64.. I believe 5.2.1, and got the same result. One other thing to notice is that it also has a problem with my Symbios 810 card. Of course, as a result of this, none of my scsi hard drives are recognized and I can't install.
