SETTING IDLE TIMER To check/set idletimer, use the ``show timeout'' and ``set timeout'' com- mands. Ex: ppp ON tama> set timeout 600 The timeout period is measured in seconds, the default value for which is 180 or 3 min. To disable the idle timer function, use the command ``set timeout 0''. In -auto mode, an idle timeout causes the PPP session to be closed, though the ppp program itself remains running. Another trigger packet will cause it to attempt to reestablish the link. Jonathan M.
