It shouldn't.  It doesn't on my systems.  However, you're right,
libc_r.so.5 is -CURRENT's reentrant libc.  Did you build this from
ports, or are you using a pre-compiled package?  If the latter, perhaps
you downloaded a -CURRENT version of the package.
