This would only help people who a) ignored the advice to not do this
and b) are not actually out of space.  I can't really bring my self
to care much about the problems of people who run softupdates on small
/'s (though I suppose I'm concerned about the people on -questions and
-stable who have to deal with them).  I'm much more concerned about
installs failing due to actually running out of space due to module
growth.
