The permanent damage I was talking about was to the unwanted,
unembraced variables that are now experiencing affection for the first
time.  Variables have been known to not know how to deal with a warm
environment when first exposed to it. :-)

I wasn't trying to imply that there was something wrong with any of
the changes' functionality...
