The Linux Version of sawfish is 1.01 and the FreeBSD version is > 1.2. Is this specific to FreeBSD? I'm not sure what you're seeing. There were some changes in sawfish vis-a-vis viewports and workspaces, but I'm able to add and/or delete workspaces by running sawfish-ui and selecting the workspaces tab. I have this package: sawfish2-1.2,2 Lisp configurable window manager installed on a laptop running this: FreeBSD 4.7-RELEASE-p7 One feature that I used to do via viewports was having a 2x2 grid of "desktops" that I could move between by sliding the mouse off of one edge of the screen. I needed to do enable edge-flipping "by-hand" by adding (require 'sawfish.wm.ext.edge-flip) to my .sawfishrc, then configuring stuff in the 'Edge Flipping' sub-tab of the Workspaces tab. I also configured the Workspace Switcher panel thingy to show the workspaces in a 2x2 grid and I was back in business. g.
