One last thought before calling it a night: I wonder why my /etc/fstab has all devices at ad0 but swap on ad1 (no wonder Crist was confused) When I installed, I chose Auto Defaults in the Disklabel Editor; I wonder if I hit a bug in the installer? When I get to work tomorrow, I'll have to check my other 4.0 box to see if it is the same.
