Just stay away from the older VIA chipsets: KT133, KT266, etc. I am not sure about compatibilty in the Unix world yet, but as for Windaz world, the KT266A chipset is one of the most reliable and fastest for the AMD platform these days. AMD's 760 chipset is very comparable in the single CPU config., too. As for the dual CPU setups, AMD's 760MPX chipset is the latest and greatest.
