We got aalib now in the ports tree.
FYI, some folks in linux world use this lib to run
svgalib apps. They use aavga (which uses aalib) to
replace svgalib. and it's claimed to be working for
sdoom.
Anybody willing to give it a try?
I wonder what it would be like to run quake in text
mode...
