I have never used any optimizations ever since I started using FreeBSD 2. This is a new box, and there is no /etc/make.conf as yet The only things I have done on this box (a Dell SC1435) is to install, csup (src, ports) and buildworld. I was just gonna do the kernel, then start doing the other stuff after the system updates.
