Perhaps I wasn't clear---no, wait, I was. I said, that the response might read, in part, "Note that if your message is an unsolicited advertisement, freebsd.org will bill you or your company $100 per subscriber, payable net-30. Currently, there are 1500 [or whatever] subscribers." Nowhere did I suggest someone pay for technical support. Indeed, it's rather disingenuous to suggest I did.
