As any experienced PR person knows, a press release saying "this has already shipped" takes a back seat to announcements that come ahead of the ship date. Why? Because if you wait, reporters say, "It's already shipped. It's old news." Psychologically, they feel more important and powerful if they are able to give ADVANCE notice of events.
