I updated to 4.4-STABLE on Tuesday (10/06/2001), and I'm seeing problems getting my wireless card to work. This is what I've seen: If I insert the card in a plain setup with pccardd running, it picks up the card being inserted (with a nice beep) and detects the card as "Lucent Technologies" "WaveLAN/IEEE" - which as far as I know is correct. The lights on the card then continuously flash. If I use the settings from here: http://www.psg.com/~randy/dell/ With these the card is picked up and I get several different messages: "general protection fault" "panic" "timeout in wi_seek to 5a15/0 last status 4000" the errors do not seem to be consistent and all result in either the machine hanging or prompting for a reboot. I've also seen intermittent flashing of the lights on the card at the point of freezing. And without the pccard_mem setting in rc.conf from the above page I get: ioctl (PIOCRWMEM):invalid arguement The card is an Orinoco - a Lucent Technologies PC24E-H-ET, it has worked in a windows environment. I have tried the kernel flags pointed out in the 4.4-RELEASE release notes, but they result in total failure to detect the card and a total freeze. Can anyone help? (below is uname and dmesg output) Thanks in advance, Alex ---- FreeBSD cedric 4.4-STABLE FreeBSD 4.4-STABLE #8: Tue Nov 6 20:56:57 GMT 2001 almoore@cedric:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/CEDRIC i386 Copyright (c) 1992-2001 The FreeBSD Project.
