First, it gave me a long list of error messages, and I couldn't scroll up to see the first one (yes I know about redirecting, but didn't do so). Then I tried building the dependencies first, and 'make clean'ed the gs port and then: make A4=yes It then chugs along nicely (though it extracts the jpeg port for some reasong, and also says it extracts the pnp port - without doing so ... hmm): Using -DA4 for compilation. >> Checksum OK for ghostscript-5.0.tar.gz. >> Checksum OK for ghostscript-5.0gnu.tar.gz. >> Checksum OK for ghostscript-fonts-std-4.0.tar.gz. >> Checksum OK for ghostscript-fonts-other-5.0.tar.gz. ===> Extracting for ghostscript-5.0 ===> ghostscript-5.0 depends on file: /nonexistent - not found <-------\ ===> Verifying extract for /nonexistent in /usr/ports/graphics/jpeg | >> Checksum OK for jpegsrc.v6a.tar.gz. | ===> Extracting for jpeg-6a | ===> Returning to build of ghostscript-5.0 | ===> ghostscript-5.0 depends on file: /nonexistent - not found <-------| ===> Verifying extract for /nonexistent in /usr/ports/graphics/png | >> Checksum OK for libpng-0.96.tgz. why? ===> Extracting for png-0.96 ===> Returning to build of ghostscript-5.0 touch /usr/ports/print/ghostscript5/work/gs5.0/adler32.c ... until, at last it tells me: ... cc -O -pipe -DA4 -c gstype2.c ./echogs -e .dev -w- -l-obj psf2lib gstype2.o ./echogs -e .dev -a- psf2lib gxtype1.o gxhint1.o gxhint2.o gxhint3.o ./echogs -e .dev -a- psf2lib -init gstype2 ./echogs -e .dev -w- -l-obj type2 -include psf2lib ./echogs -e .dev -w- -l-obj pdf -include pdfmin cff cidfont cie cmapread compfont dctd ./echogs -e .dev -a- pdf -include ttfont type2 cc -O -pipe -DA4 -c gdevpipe.c ./echogs -e .dev -w- -l-obj pipe gdevpipe.o ./echogs -e .dev -a- pipe -iodev pipe make: don't know how to make .dev.
