Wait, don't give up yet!  There's got to be a reasonable explanation
for this.

If you'll tar up your entire "/usr/sup" tree and your supfile, I'll
take a look at it and figure out what's going on.  I'll contact you
off the list to arrange transfer of the tarball.

Don't worry, we'll get to the bottom of this.
