You must use "options BRIDGE" in the kernel build's config file. You might well use "picobsd" too and put the bridging OS on a floppy or CD with or without a hard disk on the system. It's part of the basic OS and has it's own manpage. The LINT file loosely implies that bridging is not usable with the "ipf" firewall, but that's all I know about it.
