Hi all... Please reply via email since I dont get a chance to follow this list often... I have a freebsd system running 2.1.5 and a bsdi2.1 system acting as a primary server... I want to rdist passwd files from the bsdi system to the freebsd system but my freebsd system is using md5 for encryption and the bsdi uses des... I figure I will have to reinstall freebsd from scratch and tell it to install the des encryption method... will freebsd install and set itself up to use des in the passwd files from the installation menus? Someone in another group said that even though I told it to install the des stuff, it would only install the libraries, and not actually set up to use des in the passwd files. If not, anyone out there doing this type of setup and if so what did you do to make it work? I essentially am going to use the freebsd box as a secondary radius server (since a second bsdi license is quite expensive)
