I transfered the /bin and /compat21 on my DOS (C:) partition from the FreeBSD CD (CD-ROM is a non - recognized NO NAME drive). I didn't change the kernel setting and ran Custom-Installation to select /bin and /compat21 manually. The target partition has 400 MB. Next I auto-labeled the partition and installed the Bootmanager. Installation went fine until bin chunk 49 of 72. There was a short beep but no error message. After Installation the setup programm told me there were errors and it couldn't finish writing data in /etc. ??? After rebooting, the system hung up after inizialising the last standart device. Recopying the file bin.bw (49) didn't help! My system is: ASUS T2P4 3.1 BIOS 2.02 P75 32 MB - RAM WD 1.6 GB EIDE S3 Trio V64+ NE2000 compatible card Thanx for the help Thomas Deiler
