I sent the following to the FreeBSD misc newsgroup alreay. Basically I am in a real time crunch jam and need to get the following implemented somehow. Hi All I am stupid when it comes to routing sometimes and I am in a jam now. I need to have a machine that has a bunch of aliased IP addresses in my ClassC (the only place where this class C is used) on it connected to my ISP on his ethernet. In other words, my machine is colocated and lives in 204.228.135.128/25 and I am .142 and the router for that subnet is .129 My subnet is 204.228.145.0/24 . This machine needs to have about 15 IP addresses on it in my subnet 204.228.145.0/24 . Because of my SSL server (Stronghold) the main IP address has to be 204.228.145.132 in my subnet. So I need to have the 204.228.135.142 ISP-net address and that is the default route out for the box and I need t ohave my classC addresses on the box routing out onto the ISP-net. My description above is way contorted but I hope somebody understands it. What I am doing is replacing a router and several FreeBSD boxes with a single FreeBSD box temporarily while I move my operation to another state. Old situation: .145.252 .145.132 -ISPNET---------------------------------------------[router]-+---[machine] 204.228.135.128/25 204.228.135.142 | | .145.134 +---[machine] | etc New situation wanted . -ISPNET---------------------------------------------[machine] .145.252 204.228.135.128/25 204.228.135.142 .145.132 .145.134 etc I need helping figuring out all the route commands and how to set this up and whether a routed or gateway is necessary etc. Thanks Chad
