Currently the USB2 code in RELENG_5 seems more stable than the Firewire code. Can you try installing the sysutils/dvd+rw-tools port and running dvd+rw-mediainfo on the USB2 cd device node and see what it says? It's possible that GEOM isn't picking up on the media change for some reason... I've been able to read and write ISO sessions OK with an atapicam DVD-RAM burner in DVD-RW mode. BMS
