But to fully appreciate all of its benefits you're gonna need a hardware DTS decoder I've got this one and it sounds terrific: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00009N8TC/ Non-commercial software DTS decoding is far behind its Dolby counterpart. You can set "WITH_DTS=3Dyes" and rebuild mplayer to be able to (try and) play those movies.
