Have a look at http://www.Awfulhak.org/ppp.html.  There's a link to 
the current ppp.conf.sample which has some filtering stuff.

If you want to use an older version of ppp, you'll need to use ``set 
Xfilter blah'' instead of ``set filter X blah''.
