 I built gnome2 via portinstall -r gnome2 yesterday, after having
 removed all gnome and related packages and cvs'upped both ports and
 rebuilt world.  The "argument list too long" error appeared twice
 at the end of the build but it seems to have installed anyways.
 However, if you don't encounter the problem yourself, you may aswell
 close the PR.. given the extraordinarily bad quality of gnome2 (it
 freezes, crashes and spits error messages all the time) I don't
 think I'll pursue this any further and stick to my plain old working
 fvwm setup.
