I would suggest talking to someone on the "ports team" and get them to commit your patches to the ports tree. (I would offer to do it, but I'm not very ports-savvy, and I might screw it up.) You'll probably want to make sure that with your patch, SANE will work on either a CAM or a non-CAM system. (I generally autodetect by looking for /usr/include/camlib.h.) Then, when 0.75 comes out with your CAM patches, we can nuke the CAM patch in the ports tree. That reminds me, I need to talk to the ports folks about getting the tosha, xmcd and cdrecord patches in.
