You nearly made me spew coffee all over my monitor. =20 Edward, As a committed Christian I have no problem whatsoever with the mascot. I understand the obvious play on words between a daemon and a demon. Those who would have problems with this mascot have other, deeper issues that need dealt with. I think this quote says it all; "Those without a sense of humor are at the mercy of the rest of us." I also agree with those who have already mentioned that FreeBSD is not really driven by any marketing schema. The reason I chose FreeBSD is because I found it superior to Linux and Windoze, regardless of it's mascot. =20 =20 =20 Sincerely, Thad Butterworth ------------------------------ =20 Message: 29 Date: Mon, 14 Jun 2004 14:53:49 -0500 From: Peter Pauly Subject: Re: Devil Mascot To: freebsd-questions@freebsd.org Message-ID: <20040614195349.GA19556@sdf.lonestar.org> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=3Dus-ascii =20 =20 =20 I wonder if the FreeBSD daemon could be considered a "god"... =20 because he can "make world". =20 ------------------------------ > Edward Hendrie wrote: >=20 > > Why do you have a Devil for a trademark mascot? >=20 > http://www.freebsd.org/copyright/daemon.html >=20 > > From a marketing > > perspective, you are shooting yourselves in the foot.
