Subject: How do I find out my connection speed?

When I connect my FreeBSD 2.2.6 server to my ISP
manually I see a line of text once the connection is
made which tells me how fast I'm connected. When
I use ppp in -auto -alias mode, I don't see this line.

How can I tell what speed I have connected to my ISP
once the connection is going?
