Yes. You can reformat the drive and reinstall whichever OS you like.

If you know for sure that you don't need any other OS in addition to
FreeBSD then go ahead with dedicated disc. If you know for sure that you
don't mind reinstalling your system then go with dedicated disc.

If you aren't sure, then don't do it. Non-dedicated disc installation does
give you more flexibilty.
