The cvsup mirror only carries source code and the like, as where the ftp mirror carries all the packages, ports, and installation files that you would require for a network ftp install of freebsd. The only issue with doing an ftp mirror would be that it takes up about 70gigs or so. What I would suggest is to only mirror the stuff you need to mirror. That would be basically /pub/FreeBSD/release/4.5-RELEASE/, and if you want to quickly install ports or packages from the machines on your network, you might want to also mirror /pub/FreeBSD/ports (but it's HUGE!). Oh yeah, and if you're going to do the ports/packages and such, make sure that you do this: cp /etc/defaults/make.conf /etc/ And then edit /etc/make.conf and change the values of MASTER_SITE_OVERRIDE and MASTER_SITE_BACKUP to point to your ftp server. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask :) -val On Tue, 12 Feb 2002, Brian Reichert wrote: > I've pored over the -hub archives, and the newly-added Mirroring FreeBSD > guide at > > > > but have a question still: > > I'm running an interal CVSup mirror of -CURRENT (via the cvsup-mirror-1.2 > port). > > Is there a recipe for tranforming my CVSup mirror into an FTP > mirror?
