Well, I am unable to reproduce the build failure, so I suggest basically reproducing my environment in your own. Backup your ports tree (mv ports ports.old is good if you have space). Then backup the directory with your cvsup data (the checkouts files). Run your cvsup to get a fresh copy of the ports tree. Perform your upgrades again with portmaster, or whatever you would like to use. See if this doesn't solve your problem.
