I was under the impression this code had been merged to -STABLE already. Sorry to hear about the problems you're having. I myself have an rt2661and have not seen such problems. ral is currently not on the critical path for anything I'm doing otherwise I'd look at it just now; I would suggest filing a PR with this information.
