Just because the compiler says "warning" rather than "error" doesn't
mean it isn't a problem.
dmesg has a boatload of stuff about various programs exiting on various signals,
mostly 11 (SIGSEGV), but some 4 (SIGILL) and 6 (SIGABRT)
