Yes you can. What more specifically are you trying to do?
Just putting NIC Cards in both and connecting them to the same HUB or connecting them back to back
with a CrossOver Cable, and putting them on the same subnet will get them talking, IE able to telnet to the
FreeBSD from the XP etc.

Beyond that Id have to know what you are trying to do, IE Samba to share Unix drives to Windows, XSserver to connect
to the FreeBSDs XWindows Desktop from FreeBSD, FTP/Telnet/WWW from the XP to the FreeBSD, etc.
