I can work around the problem by formatting a new disk and moving all the files (note that dd will not work here) However, I worry about the "masses" who are not as able to do so. It is my personal opinion that these changes have no business in the 2.2 branch unless there is a reasonable upgrade path for EVERYONE who is already on 2.2.x. If we go to 2.3, or when we go to 3.0, then that is a different matter.
