The FreeBSD FTP site is not the master site for any of the GNOME 2
stuff.  You should instead download the tarballs from the various GNOME
mirrors as detailed in each ports' Makefile.

For ad hoc retrievals, I usually go to ftp.gnome.org/GNOME/2.0.0 for my
GNOME 2.0 needs.
