Perl has "syscall", so chflags could be something like this: #! /usr/bin/perl $SYS_chflags = 34; syscall($SYS_chflags, $ARGV[0], $ARGV[1]+0) && die "$ARGV[0]: $!"; Naturally, you'd want something in here to translate the names of the flags instead of just using the numeric value.
