use /stand/sysinstall , 

select:
   x x c Configure    Do post-install configuration of FreeBSD           x x
then:
  x x 6 Networking       Configure additional network services            x x
then:
 x x [ ] Interfaces      Configure additional network interfaces            x x

then take a look at /etc/rc.conf to see what the installer did for you.
