hello adaptec friends, I have a dual pentium gigabyte mb with two P133's on it and an 7880 onboard controller. I have been running 2.0.29 with smp now for about half a year and have repeatedly experienced total lockups of the system, no warning, no log action. After realizing that most 2.0 kernels seem to have deadlock problems with smp, I decided to give it a try and switch to the latest development kernel. I assume that there these problems are fixed ?! But, running on 2.1.66 my system is rather less stable than before. I suspect that the scsi driver for my onboard 7880 adaptec might choke on something. What can I do to check if the scsi controller is responsible foer the hangups? And : how can I increase verbosity of the kernel messages so that I get a chance to see in what action these hangups occur (typically, it occurs when doing heavy I/O, but this does not really help much...) Thank you for any hints, Jakob Curdes --------------------------------------------- information Systems Jakob Curdes Norderstrasse 4 D-26123 Oldenburg Phone xx49-441-84531 Fax xx49-441-8859580 E-Mail: jc@info-systems.com ---------------------------------------------
