If you hold a Category 5e or Category 6 cable in the motherboard RJ-45 
port, does Ethernet work?  If so, a piece of tape or a drop of glue at 
the cable/ motherboard connectors and/or tying the cable in place with 
velcro strips, string, tape, etc., would eliminate the NIC problems.
